Welcome

I'm so glad you're here.

Home: Welcome

You deserve to love every single part of who you are. It's not always easy. Maybe it's been especially hard lately. Maybe there are past experiences that have damaged your sense of self-worth. Maybe you're suffocated by a society that tells you how you should look, behave, and love. Maybe you struggle with a sense of shame that makes it difficult to be radically, fully, unapologetically you. Somewhere along the way, you've gotten stuck. It's time to get unstuck. Let's figure this out together.

The most difficult step on the journey to mental health is realizing that you need a little help. If you're here, you've already accomplished that. Well done. The next step is finding a therapist who's a good fit for you. If you think that might be me, then please contact me for a free consultation. I really look forward to knowing you.

Get to Know Me

Hi! I'm Bonnie.

My pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor providing virtual psychotherapy to residents of California, Texas, and Florida. I am a neurodivergent queer woman who is an active part of the LGBTQ+ community. I go beyond being LGBTQ-friendly – I am LGBTQ-competent, and I participate in continuing education to stay up-to-date on the issues affecting our community. I'm passionate about helping people of all identities live authentic and fulfilling lives.

My counseling style is warm, genuine, and relaxed. If you like to laugh during therapy, we will probably be a great fit. I strive to make therapy a comfortable space for you to explore yourself fully without fear of judgement. I want therapy to be the one hour a week when you can just let go and be yourself. I am especially passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergence (particularly autism, ADHD, and OCD), and trauma. I love working with both teens and adults.

If it sounds like I might be good fit for you, contact me to set up a free consultation. I'm so excited to meet you.

Specialities

We may be a good fit if one or more of the topics below resonate with you.

Gender Identity

I am passionate about providing gender-affirming care to people of all gender identities. I create a safe space for transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming individuals to navigate their gender journeys while receiving unconditional support and guidance. I follow the WPATH standards of care to ensure that my gender-diverse clients feel safe and supported.

As a member of The GALAP Movement, I do not believe in gatekeeping access to gender-affirmative care. If you are seeking a letter of support for a step along your gender journey, such as starting hormones or surgery, I will provide this free of charge with no obligation to attend ongoing therapy. Just contact me to get started.

LGBTQ+ Issues

Beyond gender identity, I am passionate about working with all members of the LGBTQ+ community. As a part of this community myself, I know how important it is to find a therapist who understands what you're going through. Whether you're looking to explore your queer identity or just process other things in your life with a therapist who gets it, I'm here for you.

I am also experienced working with LGBTQ+ youth. If you're a parent of a child who is beginning to explore their queer identity, you're in the right place. Research indicates that the most important contributor to the mental health of LGBTQ+ youth is family support. If you're here, you have already taken the first step toward providing that support. I would be honored to be a part of your child's journey growing into their amazing, unique, authentic self.

Trauma

Trauma is one of the most impactful things a human being can experience. My clients often ask me whether their experience was really bad enough to count as trauma. I tell them that trauma occurs when your mind and body are unable to process and cope with what has happened to you. An experience that may be mundane for one person can be deeply traumatic for another. I will never tell you that your experience wasn't bad enough to count as trauma. I'm here to help you finally process your experience so you can get unstuck and move forward with a new appreciation for your own resilience.

Neurodivergence

I am experienced in working with neurodivergence, especially autism, ADHD, and OCD. I have completed targeted training and supervision focused on providing the best possible care to my autistic clients. I believe neurodiversity is something to be celebrated, not cured. Rather than the traditional model of "treating your symptoms," we will collaborate to find tools and techniques that feel like a good fit for the way your brain works, all while helping you gain insight into your unique neurotype.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your fees?

I charge $175 per 50-minute session.

Do you take insurance?

I am private pay only for residents of California and Florida. I am paneled with a few insurance plans in Texas – see my Fees & Insurance section for more details.

Do you offer sliding-scale pricing?

My sliding-scale spots are currently full. I am happy to help connect you with other resources that may be a good fit for you. Please reach out if you need referrals for therapists who can offer low private pay rates.

How often should we meet?

I highly recommend meeting weekly for at least the first four weeks. These first few sessions typically consist of intake, treatment planning, and getting to know one another, and I find that it's best to get through this stage as quickly as possible so we can get to the real work. As you progress, we can reassess and decide whether biweekly or even monthly sessions would work best for you.

Can I book a consultation?

Absolutely! I offer free 15-minute initial consultations so we can see if we would be a good fit. Schedule your free consultation now.

Will we meet in person or virtually?

My practice is virtual-only for the time being. I can offer virtual services to anyone located in the states of California, Texas or Florida. For residents of San Francisco, we can discuss meeting locally for a walk-and-talk session if you'd like to meet me in person.

If your questions haven't been answered, please contact me directly.
